The path of building a new home can be considered a daunting challenge, but with Shelton Homes, our primary aim is to ensure you have a good experience throughout the process, hassle free. The best way to achieve this is to outline what the requirements are to transition you smoothly through each stage of building your new home.

5 Steps To Getting Started

Step 1

Finding and purchasing the correct block of land
It is a good idea to contact us to help you decide if the block is suitable for your preferred house design.  The slope of the land and the soil type are important factors to consider, however we specialize in these type of blocks and have a number of plans to meet required specifications.

Step 2

Choosing the design and floor plan
We will discuss your initial requirements and specifications to produce options for your building project.   Choose from a range of plans that express street appeal and blend internal design with functionality.  However, if you have your own requirements and ideas, we would be pleased to put you in touch with our drafting services.  A site plan, floor plan and elevation will be supplied.

Step 3

Project quote
We will present a quote outlining the project price, the quality range of features included, and any changes you may have requested.  We will also give you the opportunity to view some of our previous work and to speak to some of our many satisfied clients.

Step 4

Signing of contract
By this time, if you are satisfied with our building proposal, a Standard Master Builders Building Contract will be prepared ready for you to sign.  This contract requires a 5% deposit of the contract amount to commence the building of your new home.  You will need to have arranged this prior with your financier, and have the remainder of your finances approved.

Step 5

Building work commences
Once you and the builder have signed the contract, construction can now get underway. Please see Construction – What you can Expect for the next steps.

I look forward to meeting with you in person to discuss your project.
